  • Yes. Our products are prepared using classical Ayurvedic principles and carefully selected natural ingredients, developed under expert guidance and aligned with stringent quality and safety standards.

  • Ayurvedic products are generally well-tolerated when used as directed. However, individual responses can vary based on constitution (prakriti), sensitivities, and current health conditions. If you are pregnant, nursing, managing a medical condition, or taking ongoing medication, we recommend consulting an Ayurvedic physician before use.

  • Each product includes usage directions on its label and on the corresponding product page. For personalised recommendations—especially for dosha balance or specific concerns—please consult our Ayurveda doctors.

PRODUCTS & SERVICES
  • Essential oils are highly concentrated aromatic extracts that carry the characteristic qualities of the plant. They can be absorbed through inhalation and topical application (when properly diluted), supporting the body through sensory pathways and the skin.

Aroma, in particular, influences mood and emotional state through the olfactory system, which communicates with brain centres associated with memory and emotion. As part of a mindful routine, essential oils can support calm, clarity, and a sense of wellbeing.

  • When inhaled, aromatic molecules stimulate receptors in the olfactory membrane inside the nose. These signals communicate with parts of the brain associated with emotion, memory, and autonomic functions (such as breathing patterns and stress response). Depending on the oil’s properties—calming, grounding, uplifting, or stimulating—the experience can feel relaxing or energising.

  • Aromatherapy uses aromatic plant extracts to support physical and emotional wellbeing. Ayurveda has long referenced the use of fragrant herbs through traditional applications such as herbal pastes, garlands, fumigation, and daily/seasonal routines.

In Ayurveda, herbs are understood through their qualities (guna) and energetic effects—such as warming or cooling, light or heavy, dry or unctuous. Essential oils can also be approached through this lens to support dosha balance when used thoughtfully.

  • In Ayurvedic terms, oils are selected based on their elemental qualities and how they balance Vata, Pitta, and Kapha:

    • Vata (light, dry, cold, mobile) is supported by oils that feel warming, grounding, nourishing, and calming.

    • Pitta (hot, sharp, slightly oily) is supported by oils that feel cooling, soothing, and calming, often with a gentle drying quality.

    • Kapha (heavy, slow, cool, moist) is supported by oils that feel warming, light, drying, and stimulating.

The key is to choose oils not only for a concern (sleep, stress, congestion), but also for the doshic state and season.

  • Because essential oils are concentrated, small quantities can have noticeable sensory and experiential effects. In Ayurveda-inspired routines, they are often used as a supportive practice—alongside lifestyle, diet, and therapies—to encourage balance in mind and body.

  • Yes. At Nattika Ayurveda Retreats, selected plant and spice extracts are used to gently complement Ayurvedic care and enhance guest comfort. After consultation, the physician may recommend a suitable essential oil or blend based on the guest’s dosha imbalance and specific needs.

These blends may be offered through methods such as tissues, towels, pillows, diffusers, or topical application (as advised). When prescribed, housekeeping may place the recommended blend in guest rooms based on the doctor’s instructions. Certain blends may also be suggested for continued use after returning home.

  • Carrier oils dilute essential oils for safe topical use and help distribute them evenly across the skin. Essential oils are highly concentrated and may irritate skin if applied directly, while carrier oils are stable, nourishing plant oils that do not evaporate quickly and support comfortable application.

Dilution does not reduce usefulness; it helps improve spreadability, skin compatibility, and absorption—while minimising sensitivity.

  • The “best” method depends on the intended effect:

    • Inhalation / Diffuser: Often chosen for immediate mood and sensory support, as aroma works quickly through the olfactory pathway.

    • Warm Compress: Helps relax the body and support comfort by opening pores and allowing diluted oils to be absorbed locally.

    • Bath Rituals: Commonly used as a deeply restorative practice—supporting relaxation and a sense of reset, especially when aligned with season and doshic state.

    • Massage (with dilution): Supports a more grounding, body-based experience and is best guided by constitution and sensitivity.

Note: Essential oils should be used with care. Avoid direct application without dilution. Keep away from eyes and mucous membranes.
